Paris Reid was born in 1988 in Washington State, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Reid studied at California College of the Arts and Evergreen State College, Washington, where she earned her BFA in 2012. In 2013 Paris started a four year residency, hosted by Francious Pinault and Salma Hayek, where she began her full time painting career and gained exposure to the life and work of influential contemporary artists.
Best recognized for her portraiture, Reid explores the humility behind status and societal decoration, often commenting on her relationships and interactions with grand personalities, by garnishing idealized icons with exaggerated embellishment.
In contrast to her social experience, Reid also exhibits her passion for quantum physics through her ongoing void series, a body of work depicting studies of the fabric of reality, concentrating on the vastness of space, relevant to nothing material, all things potential.
